How to Play

For Silent Movie IGT decided to use 30 active pay lines, distributed over 5 reels and 3 rows in total. The pay line number is fixed at 30, making the starting bet size $0.30 per spin, while the maximum can go up to $90 or even higher in some casinos. Once the bet size is in place the only other possible option is the spin button or the auto spin for longer sessions.

Special Features

Silent Movie has one of the most original bonus rounds we had a chance to see so far. Since the entire game consists of 4 famous silent movies dating from the 1900s, it is logical that each part has a bonus feature of its own. Still some details in the game are common for all separate bonus features.

The classic wild symbol (Silent Movie Logo) lands on the last 4 reels only, excluding the first, and substitutes for all symbols in general, but never for the classic scatter (Cinema Ticket) or the triggering Feature Film Bonus symbols. Each feature is triggered the same way, with 2 Bonus Scatter symbols on reels 2 and 3 and one of the four Feature Film Bonus symbols on the fourth reel.

A feature corresponding to the Feature Film Bonus symbol is awarded in return, with the first 3 offering a choice between 3 booths to reveal the free spins number.  Also each of the features can be retriggered up to a maximum of 250 free spins.

The first feature is called Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde Win Spins, which can award between 3 and 6 free spins with all wins x 3, but only spins with a win will count toward the total number. Also a mixed Jekyll/Hyde symbol can land on reels 2-5, substituting for any of the two incorporated symbols.

The second feature is called A Trip to the Moon Wild Bonus, where 10-15 free spins are awarded with an extra wild symbol on the reels. This extra wild symbol has the same function as the classic wild.

The third feature is called A Muddy Romance Super Scatter Bonus, awarding from 6 to 12 free spins and extra scatter payouts.  The Mabel and Wild symbols act as scatters and award extra payouts for any combination starting with the minimum three up to a maximum of 8 mixed symbols on the reels.

The last, fourth feature, is called Keystone Kops Multiplier Boost Bonus, awarding a fixed number of 10 free spins and an initial multiplier from x2 to x5. After the fifth spin, the awarded multiplier value is doubled for the remaining 5 free spins, starting from x4 up to x10.

Maximums Payout

If you are familiar with IGT video slot games, you already know that the maximum theoretical payout is a quarter million coins in the bonus round, but impossible to win, unless the game breaks down. Still Silent Movie has a decent payout potential in the bonus rounds with wins going over 300 x total bet and more.

Silent Movie is a great product from IGT software and is refreshing to play because of the overall design, black and white technique and big offer of features.

Each of the 4 features available looks great and can award decent or big payouts, especially with a few retriggers at hand. One of the best games from IGT lately, hopefully with more to come from the same producer.
