Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor Slot Review
It seems that Ancient Chinese themed slots are all the rage now. Cue Microgaming to jump on the bandwagon with a new slot of their own in this genre.
Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor, is based on a mythical emperor of China, who reigned from 2698-2598 BC. According to the myths, this deity-emperor is the initiator of the Chinese civilisation, and is thought to be the very first Chinese person.
Of course, there is no basis in reality for Huangdi to ever have existed, but that hasn’t stopped Microgaming from creating a cracking new slot based on his myth.
Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor is not Microgaming’s first foray into the Ancient Chinese themed slot market, and it certainly won’t be their last. This slot does offer a tad more realism than most of their earlier efforts, even if the predictable dragon symbols are still quite present on the reels of this game.
Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor features rather fetching graphics, but is in many ways a basic Microgaming slot. The leading casino software developers may have been hard at work of late, trying to develop new features and gaming options, but they have gone back to what they know with this slot.
This is a game which offers everything you love about Microgaming’s popular slot format, and contains few new features.

How to play
You will be able to play with a total of just 25 paylines on the 5 reels of this game. Microgaming has tied those paylines down, so although you can alter your bets via the wagering menu, you can’t do much else.
Minimum bets are fixed at $0.25 per spin on this game, whilst the maximum wager is capped at $50 per spin. That is hardly going to bankrupt you, making this mobile and online slot very friendly to players on all budgets.
Wild symbols: Huangdi acts as a wild symbol in this game. As a wild, this mythical emperor can substitute for all other symbols in the game, except for the dragon scatter symbol. Wilds are also stacked on all 5 reels of the game. Wilds don’t do much else in this slot.
Expanding symbols: Instruments, medical boxes, and swords can appear stacked on the first reel. When they appear stacked on the whole reel, they can expand all matching symbols which appear on the other reels, if those symbols also form a part of the same winning combination. This feature is available in both the base game, and the free spins bonus.
Scatter symbols: As we’ve said, scatter icons appear as the predictable dragon emblems. These symbols can trigger a free spins bonus round if 3 or more appear in any position on the reels. Players will also pocket scattered wins for landing these symbols on the reels of the slot.
Free spins bonus: It doesn’t matter whether you land 3, 4 or 5 scatters on the reels. You will always start with 15 free games. However, if you can land 4 or 5 scatters, you will pocket much larger scattered wins prizes.
Players will also take a lot of joy in knowing that the same expanding symbol feature is also capable of cropping up in this slot’s free spins bonus round. The free spins bonus can be retriggered by landing 3 or more scatter icons on the reels whilst the bonus is in session.
Like most of these new Microgaming slot machine games, Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor comes with a non-progressive cash prize worth 1,000 your total bet. Another decent paying prize can be won in the free spins bonus, where players could pocket wins worth up to 240x their total bet.
We shouldn’t like the Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor slot. Chinese mythology themed slots are, after all, too commonplace at this moment in time. Yet, we do like it.
In fact, we like it a lot. The Huangdi video slot brings something a little different to the table in terms of its theme, it is as cheap as chips to play, and its wild and expanding features do certainly give it a bit of an edge that you simply wouldn’t find in too many other slots.
As of this moment in time, we have no idea when Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor slot is scheduled for release. One would imagine that it will be popping up before the end of the month. Players are likely to find this slot very playable no matter which device they currently use to play their favourite slots.
