Win Sum Dim Sum
Win Sum Dim Sum is one of the two recently announced titles in Microgaming’s upcoming releases. This game is all about Chinese food, specifically that most popular of dishes, Dim Sum.
The visuals are based entirely around this premise, featuring J, Q, & K symbols with Chinese-like touches, and many Dim Sum symbols, like dumplings and the like. This is certainly not the sort of video slot to play if you haven’t eaten yet, unless you want to dedicate a part of your earnings towards a visit to your favorite Chinese restaurant, that’s all I have to say about that.
Microgaming is one of the industry’s biggest pioneers. They assert the claim that they launched the world’s first online casino in 1994, and whether that claim is disputed or not, it does not detract from the fact they have been involved in the online gambling scene for over twenty years.
No small feat considering the small worldwide penetration of the World Wide Web in those days. Microgaming has released hundreds of games, not just slot machines, but also roulettes and card games. In fact, they are behind one of the biggest online poker networks, the MPN.
Perhaps you’ve heard of Microgaming thanks to their latest claim to fame: a mind-boggling payout of thirteen million pounds in late 2015. That’s the amount paid out in their Mega Moolah Mega progressive jackpot. This jackpot is available in all Mega Moolah titles, so Win Sum Dim Sum players might be left out in this small respect.

How To Play It
This is a fairly standard game overall. It’s a five by three reel affair with nine paylines, nothing too innovative there. Its user interface is one almost all players will feel comfortable with: bottom left you have an indicator of your balance, and next to it you have an indicator for your wage level (and means to adjust it through +/- buttons).
At the screen’s bottom center you have an indicator for your wins, and then, bottom right, you have the autoplay and spin buttons. There really is nothing that should come across as unfamiliar to anyone who has ever played a slot machine.
This game is fairly conventional overall, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have anything different to bring to the table. The one thing that might make this game stand out (besides making you want to share your profits with your closest Chinese restaurant) is the Expanding Wilds feature.
When you get a combination with a number of wild symbols (bamboo steamers in this hunger-inducing game), one of them will expand vertically, filling its entire reel.
This makes it possible for you to complete more combinations across different pay lines. This feature really improves the potential of wild symbols in Win Sum Dim Sum.
Another standout of this title is its free spin rounds. You get at them the normal way, landing combos of scatter symbols (in Win Sum Dim Sum, they’re teapots).
During your free spins, the Expanding Wilds appear like in the regular spins, but reloaded. Reels two, three and four, the three center reels, can feature Expanding Wilds, all three at the same time, even. This will surely make those free spins even more exciting than in other games.
The promotional material we’ve seen promises players to win up to thirty thousand pounds. This is a very respectable and appetizing amount, even if it’s not as enormous as the winning possibilities of Microgaming’s Mega Moolah titles.
Our initial impressions are that this game looks like a fun play. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but definitely something we’d play. We do firmly believe that you shouldn’t play this game if you’ve skipped a meal that day, though.
