The Huangdi myth becomes reality this November

The new Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor slot is Microgaming’s latest take on the often-overproduced Ancient Chinese themed slot.

Rather than being predictable, and stuffing the slot with an overly excessive amount of stereotypical imagery, though, Microgaming has chosen to take on the theme of the mythical Chinese emperor, Huangdi.

This is certainly a far more beautiful slot than we are used to seeing from Microgaming. The imagery is rather captivating, and certainly a step from what we usually see in their games.

Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor offers up just 25 paylines on its 5 reels, but there is still plenty of reason to be optimistic with what this slot has to offer you. The special features are decent – if samey – and wins can rise as high as 1,000x your total stake in the game.

There is no definitive release date yet for the Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor slot, although we are expecting a late November release. What we love

Wilds can appear stacked on all the reels of this slot. This gives you a rather great chance of bagging wins whilst spinning its reels.

There are also quite a few other expanding symbols in the game, and when these appear on the first reel, then can make other similar symbols in the slot expand, too. This also aids in providing players with more than decent wins.

The free spins feature is predictable. You won’t be terribly surprised with what it offers. Expect your usual 15 free spins with added features.

However, the scatters which trigger the feature can do you a world of good. They offer above average pay-outs when they appear on the reels, and landing 4 or even 5 of them will see you net wins which could be worth up to 200x your total bet.

What we do not like

There’s a couple of things we’re not avid fans of in the new Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor slot. For a kick-off, Microgaming doesn’t appear to have experimented with their features too much. As we’ve said, they are decent. This doesn’t tick too many boxes for us, though.

The feature in this slot is certainly no different than those you would expect to find in similar themed slots from this developer.

Players may also find the wagering range a bit restricted. Sure, $0.25 per spin is still a cheap stake, but for players operating on tight budgets, the ability to adjust the paylines in the slot would have been a plus.

Worth playing?

Huangdi – The Yellow Emperor can make your online slot gaming experience a more than pleasurable one. There is enough originality in the theme to make any fan of Ancient Chinese themed slots warm to the game.

However, even Microgaming can’t deny that if you take the theme and design away, you’re left with a run-of-the-mill gaming structure that we’ve seen before underneath.
