Frog Grog makes you drowsy this October

frog-grog-slot-logoThunderkick is certainly spewing out the new games this month. Some of their new games have left a lasting mark, and not always for the best. However, if we kiss the Frog Grog slot, what guarantees do we have of it turning into a prince? Not a lot.

In true Thunderkick fashion, there are aspects of this slot which really do strike their mark, but there are also bits of it which have us scratching our hands, wondering if the developers were on grog when they developed aspects of this game.

As you have probably gathered then, Frog Grog is a real hit and miss kind of slot. There are bits of the game which excel more than others. So, with that in mind, what do we like and not like about the 5-reel, 23-line Frog Grog slot?

What we love

If we’re perfectly frank, we love the design more than anything else. Players can enjoy a bookcase filled with potions, standing behind a bubbling vat.

This is so obviously a Halloween themed slot, and it couldn’t be better timed. All the potion pieces on the bookcase form symbols on the reels, and a lot of effort has gone into making this slot look the part.

We also love the avalanche system that features in the game. Call it avalanche, collapsing symbols, exploding icons, tumbling reels, cascading reels, whatever you want; the feature is still the same.

It still sees all winning symbols replaced with new ones, and any further winnings you bag being hit with multipliers which can rise as high as 7x the normal rate of pay. Multiple wins on a single spin are therefore possible – what’s not to like there?

What we do not like

The avalanche system and theme may be to our liking, but the jackpot isn’t. Believe it or not, you can only win as much as 10x your total stake with this slot. Yes, ten times your total stake. That just doesn’t really justify a slot machine game which costs between $0.10 and $100 a spin now, does it?

The Mystery Game feature is also a bit dreary, but it is better to have such a feature included in the slot than not at all. It can offer you a handful of bigger wins, by removing lower paying symbols from the reels. In theory, it should cough up big wins, but in reality it doesn’t.

Worth playing?

Thunderkick’s new Frog Grog slot is out now, and do you know what? It’s not too bad of a game. We’re a bit underwhelmed by the lack of decent wins, but this really is a game where you shouldn’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

It has features which impress, and it can be entertaining, even if Frog Grog isn’t the best Thunderkick slot ever released. You should also be able to find this new slot at all good casinos offering NetEnt software, as well as Thunderkick games, since the two developers often release games at casinos side-by-side.
