The Dark Knight returns to the online slot world
Microgaming recently stopped offering their Dark Knight video slot, and we have known for some time now that Playtech is losing its license to offer Marvel themed superhero slots, which includes some of their most popular slot machine games.
Whilst we have believed that Playtech would replace that series with the Age of Gods franchise, there may be another option.
This week, Playtech unveiled two new slot machine games. Both of them are superhero themed slots, and both of them are licensed from DC. The Dark Knight is returning to the slot world in both games, with the first of these being the Batman and Catwoman: Cash Slot.
Batman and Catwoman: Cash Slot is a game which is based on the original television series, and not the films or comic books. There is plenty of top quality imagery from that series, as well as a plethora of features in the new game. It all looks very exciting, and here’s why.
What we love
Batman and Catwoman are destined to feature the same 5-reel, 25-line structure as most of the original Marvel-Playtech slots. The new DC game is set to be far more exciting, and just as winning as those soon-to-be-gone titles, though.

There are four progressive jackpots, each randomly triggered like the old Marvel games. There are also plenty of special features to be found in this game. A Cat Burglar bonus can offer you increasing multipliers, whilst a Quick Trigger Chance Bonus can see you bag extra help from Catwoman to land wilds and scatter icons on the reels.
Then there is the free spins bonus itself. It offers you the chance to win up to 25 free games, with multipliers added to those wins.
What we do not like
So far, we haven’t really seen anything untoward in the Batman and Catwoman: Cash Slot game. There are cash prizes worth up to 10,000 coins, and they are available even if you fail to hit the progressive jackpots.
Everything looks as though it is going to be strikingly similar to the Marvel themed slots we all know and love, so it is certainly going to dampen the blow of them being removed from Playtech’s library. As we’ve said then, there isn’t really anything not to like about this game at this moment in time.
Worth playing?
Microgaming’s superhero themed slots are gone, and Playtech’s about to lose their Marvel license. All things considered – barring a few scattered superhero slots from other developers – this is about as good as things are going to get.
There will be a few players who aren’t on board with the whole retro Batman look and feel of this game, but most lovers of superhero themed slots will flock to this title, which is affordable, laden with special features, and richly rewarding.
There’s no definitive release date yet, but we’re eager to get started playing it for real. We’d imagine that most of you will feel the same.
