Play The Phantom of the Opera Slot For Free

Phantom of the Opera is Microgaming’s major movie-themed slot based not just on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s insanely popular opera, but also the 2004 film of the same name. If you remember the film, you will instantly recognise more than half of the imagery and scenes which you encounter in this game.

Even if you haven’t given it a whirl, though, there are more than enough stereotypical graphics to sell the theme to you.

This slot isn’t that different from most other major movie-themed slots from this developer. You’ve got your 243 ways to win, randomly triggered features, dirt-cheap bets and animated cut-scenes throughout the game. Microgaming have stuck to what they know works with this release, and whilst you may think that makes it samey, it easily one of the better-looking and more playable games from them.

How to play

As with all 243 ways to win slot machines, you are somewhat limited in terms of what you can do here. Coin denominations and the number of coins you stake per spin can all be altered, but they don’t equate to the number of lines featuring in the game. Instead, wagers are going to flex from a base minimum of $0.30 per spin up to a capped maximum stake of $15 per spin. It’s not exactly going to kill your finances now, is it?

Wild symbols: Wild symbols appear as the game’s title logo, and these symbols are good at paying out decent wins, as well as substituting for all other symbols in the game barring letters and scatter icons. Wilds can appear double stacked, which is always helpful.

Scatter symbols: Phantom masks are this game’s scatters. Landing at least two of these anywhere on the reels will dish out scattered cash prizes to players. Scatters can also dish out a choice of bonuses when 3 or more appear anywhere on the reels during a single spin of the reels.

Letter symbols: These sealed letters are ideal for handing out random cash prizes. Pocket the letter symbol on the fifth reel of the base game to bag an instant cash prize worth up to 20x your total stake.

Chandelier bonus: It wouldn’t be a Microgaming developed slot without a randomly triggered bonus. The Chandelier Bonus can pop up on occasion and drop wilds onto the second and third reels.

Bonus rounds: As we’ve said, there are three of these for you to choose from. Players can select from Music of the Night Free Spins, Masquerade Bonus, or All I Ask of You Free Spins. Masquerade bonuses offer you the chant to pick instant cash prizes of a three-tiered bonus. The Music of the Night bonus offers 10 spins with random wilds, random wild reels, extra spins or 2x-4x multipliers. Lastly, the All I Ask of You bonus offers 10 spins with Dancing Wilds; these wilds can offer multipliers, expanding wilds, and are effectively what we commonly know as Walking Wilds in other slots.

Maximum pay-outs

Microgaming advertises the Phantom of the Opera slot as having a non-progressive jackpot which is worth around $116,000 in total. Scatter symbols are by far the best-paying icons in this slot machine.

The casino software providers have a bit of a threat in the New Year in the form of rival developer, NetEnt’s The Curse of the Phantom slot, but for the time being at least, The Phantom of the Opera is the benchmark for this theme in the online casino world.
