Special Features

Monster Wins has a set of 2 bonus features which can award decent payouts. In both of these features the main symbol is the Boss Monster. This symbol has the highest payout of 100 x total bet for 5 of a kind wins across the reels. The first feature in the game is a mini bonus game, triggered when the Boss Monster symbols come stacked, covering the entire first reel. This triggers the Unleash the Boss Monster Feature.

Blue tentacles appear on the reels and award extra Boss Monster symbols across the reels with the already existing ones held in place. This feature can award some decent wins, but most of the time they are small to medium with 1-2 extra Boss Monster symbols added. The same principle is used in the free spins feature as well. The free spins are triggered when 3 or more scatters land anywhere on the reels.

The number of awarded free spins is only 3, with a full first reel of Boss Monster symbols. In each spin during the bonus round additional Boss Monster symbols are awarded across the reels. The wild symbols in the game can contribute to the payouts in the bonus, since they can land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Additional free spins can be won, by landing another 3 scatters on the reels.

Maximums Payout

From what we had a chance to see so far Monster Wins doesn’t have the potential to award some mega big wins. The biggest possible win in a single spin is 500 x total bet with a full screen of Boss Monster symbols, but a win like that is almost impossible to get. In return the maximum possible payout per bonus round would be 1,500 x bet, since you trigger only 3 free spins.

Summary

We are happy to see that the designers at NextGen Gaming are working hard, creating many new video slot games and increasing the current game offer. Still quantity doesn’t mean quality and this is missing in many of the new releases by NextGen. Monster Wins seems like a mid variance game, with decent animations and symbols, but the payout potential is not something that would attract you to invest a serious sum of money.

Base play wins are always small to medium, but with constant decrease of your balance. The 100 x bet payout for 5 Boss Monster symbols has not yet landed on our screen and seems impossible to get. Unleash the Monster looks like a decent random feature in the game adding a little excitement, but we expected much more from the free spins bonus.

We have no idea why the free spins number is only 3, when it seems that even 10 free spins are not enough for a decent win to happen. The added Boss Monster symbols almost always land on reels 2 and 3 in small numbers and award around 15 x bet payouts. We have yet to see several full reels of the Boss Monster symbol on the screen and at least a 100 x bet win.
