King Kong is one of those creatures in pop culture that everyone seems to be aware of, even if they haven’t watched any movies with them on it, like Frankenstein, Dracula, or Werewolves. King Kong, the gigantic gorilla from Skull Island, first appeared in a 1933 movie named King Kong, which was universally acclaimed in its time for its special effects and story.
Since then, this character has featured in a myriad of sequels and spin-offs, including two remakes of the original, in 1976 and 2005.
The 2005 got its own slot machine adaptation, by a big-name developer, and now NextGen throws its hat on the ring with its own adaptation, not of the 2005 film specifically, but of the original story in general, making this game have a unique atmosphere of its own.
NextGen Gaming is an independent developer, billing itself as “the world’s leading independent supplier of innovative games for the gaming industry”. They were founded in 1999, and have since used their experience to craft some very innovative games.
NextGen claims to be the first company to develop a platform-independent content delivery approach, a mainstay of current development philosophies in the iGaming industry nowadays.

How To Play It
King Kong by NextGen has a 5×3 set of reels with 25 paylines. Its control interface couldn’t be any simpler, since it is clearly optimized for mobile touchscreen devices.
The spin button is located on the right hand side of the screen, and a cog button on the upper right takes you to a menu where you can set your bet level and number on pay lines you’re betting on, consult the pay table, and start an auto play session.
You set the number of spins through the menu, and once you leave it, the regular spin button will have turned into an auto play button. Dead simple. This simplified user interface is certainly a very welcome development over the cluttered layouts of other games, and it certainly looks and feels very intuitive, even on a pc.
This game has some very cool special features that greatly enhance its gameplay experience. The first and more entertaining feature is the King Kong Smash feature. It is triggered by landing King Kong logo scatter symbols, which can show up anywhere on the reels.
You’ll have to land 3 or more for the feature to kick in. You’ll enter a mini-game where youll have to select planes for King Kong to smash; once he misses three times, the mini-game will be over.
The more planes you manage to get Kong to smash, the more free spins you’ll get. Once you’re awarded your free games, you can choose to go ahead, or take a mystery credit prize instead of playing the free spins.
The second, more common feature is the King Kog Goes Ape feature. This feature is triggered once King Kong appears on reel 3. King Kong, not the logo, is this game’s wild symbol, and can only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4.
Anyhow, when King Kong shows up on reel 3, the entire reel turns into a wild symbol, with the possibility of adding other wild symbols on adjacent reels. Suffice to say, this feature greatly enhances your chances of landing a big win.
The highest amount you could get, theoretically, is 5000 euros by getting five King Kong logo scatter symbols and betting 2 euros per spin. RTP is 95.14%
A very refreshing take in video slot form of the classic film. The game’s atmosphere really captures the spirit of the films, and its features are exciting and entertaining.
