Halloween Fortune II Slot Review

It is the slot that many of us never imaged would be released. A number of years have passed since Playtech’s Halloween Fortune first appeared and put us into the mood for the occasion. Even today, it is still considered to be amongst the best – if not the best – of the Halloween themed slot machine games.

That may be about to change, though, after Playtech have announced the launch of a sequel – the rather simply named Halloween Fortune II. We’re looking forward to seeing what thrills and spills we can have with this new video slot this Halloween.

Developers

Playtech’s original Halloween Fortune slot set the bar for the Halloween themed slot, and it set it so high that it was virtually impossible for other similarly themed slots to trump it.

The world-class casino software providers used all of their know-how to create a proper Halloween slot, with black cats, skulls, medallions and pumpkins bubbling to the surface of this slot, which center on three colourful witches.

Playtech has tried to keep a lot of what we loved about the original game present in the sequel, and early indications are that we’ll be taking our hats off to them on the job well done with Halloween Fortune II.

How to play

Unlike the original 20-line slot, Playtech have opted to expand Halloween Fortune II, giving it 5 reels and 20 paylines as a gaming structure. You could alter the paylines in the original game, but there is none of that here.

Instead, wagers are going to cost you at least 25p per spin. The maximum wager range has also been increased, with players now able to stake as much as $250 per spin on this scarily good sequel. Just like its predecessor, the wagering menu bar is hidden amongst the reel structure rather well, making it fit right in there.

Players can also access a Turbo Mode from the menu bar, but that will only interest players who are in a rush.

Features

Wild symbols: In a bid to keep things the same, the pumpkin (or Jack o’ lantern if you prefer), is once again the wild symbol. It is also the best paying icon in the slot. There is nothing inherently special about the wild, and it can replace all other symbols in the slot barring scatters.

Scatter symbols: The scatter icons appear as the Halloween Fortune II logos. These replace the cauldron as the bonus symbols, and they can trigger a free spins bonus round (as well as a cough up scattered wins when 3 or more appear on the reels).

Free spins bonus: Players will get started in the free spin feature with a total of 10 free games. An increasing multiplier is also present in this video slot, and it kicks off at 2x.

It rises by 1x after every 2 spins you take, ultimately ending up as high as 6x (which is 4x less than the original). During the free spins bonus, players can also pocket a frozen pumpkin wild. It will sit there in the middle of the third reel for the duration of the bonus.

Maximum pay-outs

Players can win as much as 3,000 coins in the Halloween Fortune II slot. This is a bit less than its predecessor (which stood at 10,000 coins).

In order to scoop that non-progressive jackpot prize, players are going to have to line 5 of the pumpkin wild symbols on any payline in the slot machine game. Fortunately, there are more of them to win on this time around.

Summary

Halloween Fortune II is certainly an improvement on Halloween Fortune if you are high-rolling players. The extended wagering range allows you to enjoy most of the features of the original game, albeit with larger stakes. It is, after all, a bit of a high variance slot.

However, if you prefer lower stake wagers, you may be more inclined to keep to the original Playtech slot. It came with a Witches’ Brew Bonus, (which is suspiciously absent from this sequel), and that bonus offering up huge multipliers.

Halloween Fortune II offers a solid Halloween themed slot gaming experience, and it will probably keep out many of the new similarly themed slots which launch this October. However, in our opinion as good as this slot is, it just doesn’t have what it takes to surpass its predecessor.

So, there you have it. Halloween Fortune II is certainly good, but it doesn’t quite offer you enough to knock Halloween Fortune off the top spot.
