Age of the Gods

age of gods slot logoThis new, soon to be released game by Playtech revolves around ancient Greek mythology, and the famous pantheon of gods so deeply intertwined with it. The reel symbols are, as expected, derived from Greek mythology; there are pegasi, triremes, amphorae, Greek letters, lyres, and so on.

The visual design of this game includes plenty of gold-colored elements, like borders, and the game employs that font that evokes Greek lettering when carved in stone, those very angular letters that where widely employed in different pop culture settings, like the Disney movie Hercules, or in Greek restaurants throughout the world.

Playtech is a supplier of turnkey solutions for online casinos, from actual games to software platforms. They are, according to their website, “the world’s largest online gaming software supplier traded on the London Stock Exchange Main Market”, a fact that as impressive as it is oddly specific. They provide a wide variety of services and products to online casinos, making them a very important player in the industry.

How to Play It

This game has 25 pay lines, and a 5×3 set of reels.  The user control elements are not that different from what we might expect in any other virtual slot machine. At the bottom of the screen, we have all of the game’s user interface elements. On the bottom right of the screen we have three buttons, the Auto Play, Turbo Mode and Spin buttons.

We can obviously tell what the Auto Play and Spin buttons do, since we’ve seen them in almost every other virtual slot machine out there, but the Turbo Mode button is the one thing we are unfamiliar with, since there still isn’t all that much info on this game yet. Other user interface elements are the traditional indicators for your wins, for the lines you’re betting on, and a control to set your line bet.

Special features

The special features that we know of in this game so far are very interesting indeed. The one that we find most appealing is the free spins feature. Getting three Age of the Gods symbols on the reels triggers the free spins feature. Age of the Gods symbols represent different Greek gods and demigods, like Athena, Hercules, Poseidon and Zeus. You get a set of free spins, a different activation of the feature, per each god in the combination.

Once you’ve triggered the featured, you’ll be taken to a “wall” of sorts with twenty Age of the Gods coins. You have to match three symbols with the same god, and then you’ll be taken to a free spin round with 12 spins. Each round may have different properties, depending on the god you used to enter it in the minigame.

The entire special feature of the free spins here is fairly original, and we’re certain we’ll enjoy playing this once it’s out.

Maximum Payouts

This game features a progressive jackpot, in four levels: Power, Super Power, Extra Power, and Ultimate Power. As with any other progressive jackpot, total value will change depending on plays and the last tie it paid out.

Worth Playing?

This game will be tied to the Playtech Ultimate Power progressive jackpot, making it a very appealing game to try. There are other progressive jackpots that manage to grow much larger and much faster, but the prospect of getting a few hundred thousand pounds is definitely a good one. The game looks like it will have some very interesting special features, so maybe it will be worth playing just to try out a game with a few novelties up its sleeve.
