The Dark Knight Rises
Based on the hit movie of the same name, and the direct sequel to the hugely popular Dark Knight slot; Microgaming’s Dark Knight Rises is quite different from its predecessor.
Microgaming wanted to make this game as different from its hugely successful original game as possible, and they have done that with this release.
This sequel is a non-progressive jackpot slot, and it offers brand new features to enjoy. It hasn’t become as popular as The Dark Knight, but the Dark Knight Rises is an enjoyable and thrilling slot in its own right.
How to play The Dark Knight Rises slot online
In true Microgaming fashion, this title is a 243 ways to win video slot. It also has the customary five reels. You cannot wager on each individual payline, though you can stake up to 5 coins per game on this title. Coin values range from £0.01 up to £0.05, and players must stake at least £0.30 in order to play.
The most that The Dark Knight Rises will ever cost you, is a puny £7.50 per spin. The high playing cards are worth alright sums of money in this title. But it is in the actual licensed images where the real money can be had. Bane, Batman, Robin (Blake), Catwoman, Miranda, and Commissioner Gordon all feature in this slot, which uses images from the hit motion picture.
Animation is also used to present certain sequences, and clips from the movie can also be found in this title, just as they could in its predecessor.

The Dark Knight Rises scatter
The scatter icon in this game is the bomb symbol. When three or more of these icons appear anywhere on the reels, the player will trigger a free spins round. Before you get to that though, you must choose to play as either Batman or Bane.
Each offers slightly different features for the free spins round. Choosing to play as Bane will open up a rolling reels feature. Opting to play as Batman will see players pick up wild blasts and split wilds.
Players are at liberty to choose an additional wild from the main character icons, which can be used alongside the standard wilds in the free spin rounds.
The Dark Knight Rises special features
The number of free spins you get depends on what has been acquired during standard play. This might sound complicated, but you will get it!
During standard gameplay, Batman and Bane can randomly appear across the screen fighting. When they do, a number of free spins and/or multipliers can be added to the character’s bars, on top of the reels. When you get to the free spins round, you can base your decision on which character to play as, based on what they have accumulated in their fights in standard play.
Another interesting feature of this slot is the shuffle feature. From time to time, the icons on the paylines may be re-shuffled about like a jigsaw puzzle, offering players wins where previously, there wasn’t any. This feature is triggered entirely at random.
The wild symbol
The Dark Knight Rises logo is the wild icon in this game. It appears on all of the reels. However, when it appears on the third reel, and turns into an expanding wild.
During free spins, it is also possible for wilds to act as splitting wilds. Wilds can replace all other symbols in the game, with the exception of scatter icons, and player chosen wilds in free spins.
The Dark Knight Rises jackpot
Now this is the kicker. The Dark Knight was a massive four-levelled, randomly triggered progressive jackpot slot. The Dark Knight Rises however, is a non-progressive jackpot slot.
Despite this, you can still win up to 1,780,000 coins, if you are fortune enough to land a superb winning combination using the wilds presented to you in the game. The wilds are the best paying symbols in this game, and are worth 5,000 coins when 5 appear on a payline.
Other notes on The Dark Knight Rises
If we are being totally honest, then I would say that The Dark Knight Rises doesn’t quite match up to its predecessor, which is simply one of the finest slots ever developed.
That doesn’t mean that this isn’t a cracking slot too, though. The Dark Knight Rises introduces some features that most gamers have never seen before, is as cheap as chips to bet on, and is genuinely rock solid and good fun to play.
In fact, if it had been a progressive jackpot slot, I’d even go as far to say that it would be better than The Dark Knight! But alas, Microgaming chose not to go that way.
