Black Diamond Slot Review

Black Diamond is a jewel-themed video slot, and one of Pragmatic Play’s simpler online slot machine games. The title features a flurry of 3D designed gemstones and precious stones, although truth be told, the 3D graphics are hardly overly captivated things of beauty.

These rough-cut 3D graphics aren’t going to wow players, and nor is the theme of this video slot, which we’ve seen time and time again over the years from virtually every major developer.

Developers

Pragmatic Play is a casino software developer which endured a tough start to life in the online casino world. In its earlier years, it had been accused of making its games too difficult to win, with RTP rates which really wouldn’t suffice most players’ needs.

However, over time the casino software developers have produced better and better games, to cement their place and reputation amongst the better developers. Black Diamond doesn’t do too much to keep the growth going, though, and is far too primitive to be of too much enjoyment for players.

How to play

Located below the reels of this slot is a very basic, very simple wagering range. Players can use the plus and minus buttons to select coin values which stem from $0.01 up to $0.50, whilst simultaneously betting between 1 and 10 coins per each of the 25 non-adjustable paylines in this slot. At its cheapest, this slot machine will cost you just $0.25 per spin, whilst at its costliest, you are looking at a maximum wager of $125 a pop.

Features

Wild symbols: Wild symbols appear as diamond icons in this slot, and they can substitute for all other symbols in the game, except for scatter and bonus icons. Diamond wilds do not have cash values of their own to pay out.

Scatter symbols: These icons appear as red diamond looking symbols. They can only appear on the first and fifth reels, and players need only two of them to fall on the reels to trigger a free spins bonus. Scattered wins are also paid out with these symbols.

Bonus symbols: When players land golden bars on the second, third, and fourth reels of the slot, they will pocket an instant cash prize. These golden bars can see you win anything from a minimum of 40 coins, up to a total of 600 coins.

Free spins bonus: There is certainly nothing overly complex about the free spins bonus in this slot machine game. Players can initially pocket a total of 10 free games. Once they start spinning the reels of this free games feature, they will realise that all wins are not offered any multipliers of any good. That is rather disappointing, truth be told.

Maximum payouts

The best paying symbol in this slot machine is the red ruby icon. Red rubies can offer you wins worth as much as 6,000 coins when 5 appear on any active payline. It should also be noted that four of the eight standard paying symbols in the game (red, blue, purple, and yellow stones) can offer you wins with just 2 symbols appearing on the reels.

Summary

One must admire the way that Pragmatic Play has inserted several bonus features into their slot. The problem with this is that they are not that excited. When this is coupled with the inflexible paylines, the so-so graphics, and the sleepy theme, one could assume that Black Diamond is going to largely fail to impress the gaming community in quite the way that Pragmatic Play may have been hoping for. Black Diamond is not a bad slot but it does little to make you want to play it.
